Best of Leadership Summit: Up, Up, and Away!
As Cynthia Knapek, President of Leadership Louisville Center, welcomed attendees at the Best of Leadership Summit, I was reminded of the many positive professional growth opportunities offered through our local Leadership Louisville Center. Last week’s Best of Leadership Summit inspired audiences by bringing together thought-provoking speakers from near and abroad. This Leadership Summit was a day filled to the brim with top-notch keynotes, discussions, and breakout sessions.
Below are highlighted some of the #BestSummit speakers:
Dan Heath- an Innovative Business Thought Leader and New York Times Best-Selling Author who recently published Upstream: The Quest to Solve Problems Before They Happen.
Stephanie Mehta- Editor and Chief of Fast Company Former Deputy Editor at Vanity Fair.
Amy Gallo- Author of the HBR Guide to Dealing with Conflict, co-host of the Women at Work podcast, and contributing editor at Harvard Business Review.
Cynthia Knapek- President of Leadership Louisville Center
Dr. Angelique Johnson- CEO/Founder of the Vissionaireum and MEMStim
Teddy Abrams- Music Director of Louisville Orchestra and Music Director and Conductor of the Britt Orchestra
OJ Oleka- President of the Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities
Karyn Twaronite- EY Global and EY Americas Diversity & Inclusiveness Officer
Michele Shelton- International speaker, author, and consultant
I wish I could have attended EVERY session. Two of my most favorite speakers during the #BestSummit were Dan Heath and Amy Gallo.
Upstream heroes and invisible victories were defined during Dan Heath’s talk. Heath discussed the power of using data to navigate not inspect, surround the problem, and detect problems early. Pick up a copy of Dan’s newly released book Upstream: The Quest to Solve Problems Before They Happen to learn how to shift reactions to upstream energy that focuses on the source of the problem.
Amy Gallo spoke on Smart Fights. Maybe this talk was best defined by how navigate uncomfortable conversations, and how we can make safe environments to disagree and express our true opinion. Gallo empowered individuals and teams to have a healthy perspective on conflicts.
Leadership Louisville’s #BestSummit succeeded in providing well-packaged wisdom and insight that will motivate leaders for days. Now, I am reflecting on new friends met, books gifted in our Leadership Louisville welcome bag, and how this summit has inspired me to be a little bolder and better. I hope you consider attending this summit next year. What a wonderful event led by Leadership Louisville, one of the largest leadership development centers in the country based right here in Louisville, Kentucky.
